The main types of painting of Tibetans in Tianzhu are the mural painting and scroll painting which cover many different aspects of people's life such as religion, politics, history, economy, culture and society. There are more than hundreds of pictures on the mural painting such as the story to tell about the life of Sakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism.

One of the content of the mural painting is about the history, legends and famous historical figures in Tibet such as Songzan Ganbu and Princess Wencheng, and the pictures of some senior monks. The mural paintings of scenery and animals are about the temples on Wutai Mountain, lions, tigers, elephants, rabbits, monkeys deer, cattle, horses, sheeps, phoenixes, peacocks and some auspicious patterns, as well as herding the cattle and sheeps, milking and flowers and trees.
