As the popularity of “mouse”, the writing of Chinese character was ignored for once a time. Nowadays, calligraphy is attached more and more importance. Over twenty years ago, as a unique art, the works of finger calligraphy was like an awl’s point sticks out through a bag and won lots of attention. Finger calligraphy written by calligraphers in our country was loved and collected by overseas people from Japan, Korea, America, Britain, India, Canada, Singapore, and Malaysia and so on. On April 22th, 2004, former US president Bush paid a state visit to China and Hongxing Zhou, a professor in China People’s University, director of China Painting and Calligraphy Art Research Institute as well as a famous calligrapher presented two pieces of official script (one of them was finger calligraphy) to president Bush and Bush received it with pleasure and expressed his compliment and amazement at Zhou’s work. On the night of Sep 29th, 2004, under the invitation of vice president Zeng Qinghong, Zhou Hongxing attended the Mid-autumn and National Holiday Reception in the Great Hall of the Capital and demonstrated his official script finger calligraphy Shuidiaogetou, which caused great astonishment by the participants. Zhou Hongxing, Hu Yaojia, Liang Yuguang, Wang Shuming all have once won the first prize in national calligraphy competition and became leading lights in the circle of finger calligraphy in China.
