Peacekeeping Mission/UN Peacekeeping operations/Success

United Nations peacekeeping missions undertaken activities in the context of the world's most dangerous and difficult places, deal with conflict, or pick up the pieces, which these conflicts or post-conflict situations are no ability or willingness of other people. They can do what no one else can do, but no guarantee that every times will be success.

Since its establishment for more than 60 years, their excellence in maintaining peace won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Since 1948, the United Nations, through dozens of countries (including Cambodia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mozambique, Namibia and Tajikistan), has successfully conducted of peacekeeping operations, helping end up conflicts and promoting reconciliation.

Data show that they recently completed or ongoing the United Nations peacekeeping operations have brought about substantial changes to other parts as well, such as Sierra Leone, Burundi, C?te d¡¯Ivoire, Timor-Leste, Liberia, Haiti and Kosovo. Through the provision of basic security and crises reaction, these actions of the United Nations provided support to the political transition and helped support the newborn fragile State institutions. Although peacebuilding is still facing major challenges, but they helped States to terminate the conflict, open the road to normal development.

Experience indicates that peace-keeping operations are to succeed with the following factors:
1¡¢Compliance with consent, impartiality and non-principle and performing their duties or self-defence may not use force;
2¡¢Seen as legitimate and credible, particularly in the view of local people;
3¡¢Measurable promotion of peace in countries and regions.
