In 1928, he became the secretary of Guangdong province army authority. In early of 1930, he served in organizing the committee. In May, he worked in the CCP special department and center army committee. He worked secretly in Hongkong, Tianjin and Shanghai. In Dec. 1931, he entered the center soviet district. He served as the vice director of china red army central, the 1st group. In addition, he was also elected in the central executive committee of Soviet. In April, the committee of red army eastern committee joined the zhangzhou war. Since winter 1932, he attended the 4th and 5th anti surrounding led by linbiao, the leader of army. 1935, he supported the maozedong idea in the zunyi meeting. After passing jinsha river, he serves in the committee of central red army pioneers. He once lead the zhiluozhen war and eastern, western war. In November 1936, he joined to lead the shancheng castle war. |

After war against Japan broke out, he served as vice-officer and in the political committee of 115th group. He joined the pingxingguan war, gaining the 1st big victory of anti-Japanese war. In November 1937, he worked as the commander and in the political committee building the first basis of 3 provincial boundaries. In 1939 winter, he joined the yansuya, huangtuling war, beating the abuguixiu, the commander chief of Japan. In August 1940, in the 100 groups war, he organized the group to fight the zhengtai, jinpu, pinghan, bening. In 1943, he came back to yanan to attend the discipline campaign. In 1945, he arranged the antiattack war at jinchaji district. |

In the period of liberation, he served as the commander-in-chief, the second secretary of CPPCC northern china, the Chinese liberation committee vice-chief, pingjin weishu commander-in-chief, Beijing mayor. He once directed zhengtai, qingfengdian, shijiazhuang, pingjin war. |
