无垠的沙漠独特的风光

Zhang Mei	On October 4, when we come into the exhibition hall of prevention and harnessing of the sand, we are attracted by all the pictures and models in it, all of which show the history of harnessing of the sand in Minqin County for more than half of a century. A lot of tools and instruments are also shown here. All of them show the hardship of harnessing the sand by the heroes and examples. When we have a visit of these articles, we feel as if we were working hard in the desert with our heroes to harness the sand.
Zhang Jianrui	On December 12, it is rather cold. Under the guidance of our teacher, we go to Gansu Desert Institute to interview experts in this field. We ask a lot of questions to the expert and he answers very patiently. He shows great confidence of the harnessing of the sand. He tells us the central government has paid great attention to the problem. He also tells it is a interdisciplinary subject of harnessing the sand. And China has made a lot of achievements in this aspect in the world. At last, he expresses his hope that everyone can make his own contribution to the harnessing of the sand.
Zhuang Siqin	On October 4, we go to interview the famous Foolish Old Man – Mr. Shi Shuzhu. Unexpetedly, his home is rather simple but very clean. When we talk about the desert with him, he tells us it is the sand that makes their lives become harder. He built a lot of forests. And he guides us to the memorial tower of harnessing the sand. He shows us how to plant trees to fix the sand. Although he is more than seventy years old, he is still hard working to harness the sand. He tells us he will try his best to make his own contributions to the hometown, and he believes through our effort the hometown will become more and more beautiful in the future.
Yu Ximei	On October 4, it is rainy and cold. We go to interview Mr. Shi Shuzhu. We spend more than one hour reaching his home. He is very kind to us and welcomes us warmly. When we talk with him, we can feel the tenacious spirit of him. He wants to make the local people live a better life through his efforts, which makes deep impressions on us. For more than half a century, he has been working hard to harness the sand. We should learn from him: when we have a goal in the mind, we should try our best to realize it.
Zhao Chaoshan	On October 4, we go to interview Mr. Shi Shuzhu who lives in Songhe Village in Minqin County. After we chat for a while, he guides us to the memorial tower of harnessing the sand. When we reach there, we find there are full of trees and grass which is not like desert at all. We cannot help respect Mr. Shi. When we reach the top of the tower, trees and grass and white dunes come into our sight, all of which are grown by Mr. Shi. Then he shows us how to plant trees to fix the sand, which makes me feel the hardship of harnessing the sand. On our way back, we realize that protecting environment should be the responsibility of all of us.
Chen Guokun	On the way to Hongya Mountain Reservoir, I feel rather excited, because it is famous as the largest reservoir in desert in Asia. When we stand by the lake, we feel relaxed and joyful as if we were in a beautiful picture. The wild ducks are swimming happily on the lake and the reservoir is like a large green jade. When the breeze blows on our face, we feel very carefree and happy.
Teachers
Pei Haiming	It is not only a slogan but also our action to harness the sand in Minqin County . Through the interviews, we have learned that in the past several decades, the water becomes less and less gradually, which has bad influence on the plants, the farmlands and even the roads and ditches. The sandstorms every year can cost more than 20 million yuan, which hinder the development of society and economy.
Qi Zuofeng	When I go to hold interviews in the desert, I am shocked by the peculiar scenery there. After I collect materials and analyze the data, I find that the ecological environment of my hometown is rather vulnerable. There is shortage of water and plants, but sandstorms often blow. We owe our gratitude to Shi Shuzhu, Wang Yinji and the six old men in Babusha who spare no efforts in harnessing the sand. Without them, our oasis cannot appear as it is now.
