Cangxi county has a long period of history, according to the unearthed relics from Panlong Mountain and Huangchanggou, there were ancestor multiplying, starting a life on this place about 10 thousand to 4000 years ago. It was the land of Ba country in slave society, ancestors in the Qi Ping, Dong Xi and Donghe area established ethnic commune, which was called "Pingzhou state".。
 Congxi County was set in 285 (the 6th year of Taikang of Xi Jin Dynasty), where took its name from the deep canyon, towering mountain on both side of Jiaoling River. County Government was in Tingzikou, Tingzi village, Cangxi county, subject to Baxi prefecture. In 420 years (the first year of Liu Song emperor Yong),Hanchang county was occupied by Northern Wei,County Government was moved Qingshanguan Dongxi village Cangxi county from Bazhouzhenqiao Bazhong city Sichuan province.。
