"Baogong looked in mirror" was a new costume play which was adapted from Lantern Opera. Baogong in Lantern Opera was different from other ancient Chinese operas, from who was Majesty and intimidating. Baogong was a common people in their mind, so Baogong was upset back to home and drunk everyday when he killed Chen Shimei and offended the Empress Dowager and princess, he thought of his own destiny in the future, safety of Qin Xianglian and her child, the future of his assistants Wangchao and Mahan especially when he found his head was gone after drinking, he was scared with sweat, then his granddaughter reminded him that bronze mirror was covered by dust. He called the little granddaughter cleaned the mirror, and the part of "playing on shoulder" dancing with small granddaughter was originated from the life, which a small granddaughter was riding on the back of grandfather and little girl was jumping rubber band.

Especially the part of Wangchao and Mahan would resign their commissions, their three performances with Baogong completely showed the performance characteristics of Lantern Opera "Choubandeng", it had broken the limits and eliminated the seniors and juniors, and it said that "no ugly role, no drama", it showed that “ugly” actions were in the center position of Lantern Opera. People in all ages can participate in the "Choubandeng". In this part of "Choubandeng" performance, the three roles of Baogong, Wangchao and Mahan were showed in ugly "Bandeng" actions, it uses sorcerer's dance and dances of puppets, shadow, and laughing monk was teasing the lion, these expressions were loved by the people in Northern Sichuan, it was a kind of folk art forms had entertained several generations of farmers in Northern Sichuan, lantern song and lantern dance were completely showed to the audience.
