Shangqiao county locates at the litong district south suburb. Under its leadership, there are 8 villages, 57 villager groups, 4124 households with the general population of 17795, in which hui group people account for 99.8% and farming people quantity are 14331 and labour people are 6545. the arable land are 11361 mu and per capita less than 0.68mu. The main agricultural product are wheel, rice, bean, vegetable. It has been listed as the modern agricultural model park by Litong government. Wuhui, wubian, yinping, 211 national highway are also through this county.

    Shangqiao is at the city suburb with the convenient traffic. Since the 1998 the county government are starting working from the general environment to improve the village. We take the coat the village road as the key point by investing 2.2 million yuan to 43.6 kilometers road. We realize the target of telephone, road and cable TV every household. County committee and government take the well-being as the general village working environment and income enhancing as the purpose. They take the science as the support, market as the guidance, follow the way of agriculture industrialization, village industrialization and city-village union. Start from the way of perfecting the item, renew the industry and enhancing the income, vigorously pushing the agriculture new achievement by perfecting the spreading system and strengthening the service. The village economy receives fast development. In 1999, whole county build the high standard corn stocking field 5350 mu and encouraging cave mowing rice 4832 mu. All 4856 mu.Rice are all adopted the dry planting new method. We also work on spreading the deep cave eggplants 216 mu with the vegetable total are 2632mu.

    At same time, the county government put the stock breeding industry for enhancing farmers’ income at the number 1 postion. Through the policy guidance, fund support, main household leadership, the typical way of improving farm and herding should be followed. Till the end of 1999, the whole county industrial and agricultural output reach 0.335 billion yuan, with the farmers’ net income 3120yuan, grain output total 38797 thousand kilograms. The number of milk cow in shed is 1896; meat cow 2880(out of shed 6300); sheep 16000(out of shed 18000) and poultry 45000. The special poultry breeding are also settling down on the shangqiao county, among them, the meat pigeon are 2500 pairs.
