| The water source supply system in Xining city area includes the following water sources: groundwater, Huangshui River, Nanchuan River, Beichuan Rivera, redeployment from other cities. Five water plants use underground water as a water source in Xining now, due to the over-exploitation of groundwater, it has resulted in decline of urban water, deterioration of water quality, phenomenon of land subsidence, shutting down underground water sources is imperative; the serious problem of Huangshui River, Nanchuan River, and Beichuan River is they are polluted, because they are in treatment, they can’t be used as water source. After investigating in many ways, the irrigationists decided to build Heiquan Reservoir over Baouku River. Baoku River originates from Kebutuyahuo forests, the junction of three counties of Datong, Haiyan, and Menyuan, where is sparsely populated, and has good quality water source of glacier melting water, known as the "natural mineral water". |
