Cangxi Town in Sichuan privince , situated at the middle reach of Jialing river , started its town treatment in Taikang period of xijin danasty 1700 years age , however , the spread anfd boom of Taoism on this land was more than 100 years earlier than that .

At 143A.D. , the founder of the Taoism , Zhang Daoling , toured to the northern Sichuan and chose Yuntai mountain which was one of the 24 earliest Taoist sites at the southeastern Cangxi Town to set the altar to preach .According to the ancient books , Zhang Daoying led 370 disciples to Yuntai mountain for alchemy and cultivation according to the Taoist doritrin and went up to heaven here .The Zhang Daoling tomb still exist at the western Yuntai mountain . In recent years , more and more scholars from USA , Germany and outstanding research institutes in China who study Taoism and Taoist followers from southeastern asia and Taiwan come to Cangxi for investigation and roots seeking .

As one of the birthplaces and spreading places , Cangxi was popular at Taoism because of Taoist temples throught the wowns and villages in ancient times. According to the incomplete statistics , 400 temples still existed in the town before 1949 , with ten of them including the Yuntai Temple on the Yuntai mountain , Zhenwu Temple on the Wudang mountain , Zhenqing temple on the Yanfeng mountain and Sanqing temple on the Bamiao town the most famous ones .At that time , there circulated a ballad as 9 lanes on a long street , half city and half Taoist temples . Meanwhile , there built Taosit houses for receiving Taoists and disciples only .

Taoism , an original chinese religion , which was formed from the chinese civilization , worshipped the philosophic view of people and heaven are one integrity which had a silent transformming influence for the current preserved natural eco-environment and simple folk cuntoms .

This place has become a tourist hot spot with beautiful scenary and a good summer resort .
