XiangShuiTan
Bijie Xiangshuitan is located in the junction of Wenbi
foothill and Shamao foothill in the north of Bijie Town.
It was called “Xiangshui River” according the historical
record, later named “Daotian River”, now is a mother
river to raise more than 20 thousand residents in Bijie
Town. Daotian River extends more than ten miles,
collecting more than 10 streams together and flows to
the north of Bijie Town. As the river bed descends, it
forms waterfall groups with over 100 meters from leaning
and a drop of 40 meters. The surging river water from 50
meters wide cliffs drops down into Black Dragon Pool,
like ten thousand horses galloping, and makes rumbling
sound, so it has the name of “the sound of Xiangshui is
like thunder”, among the Eight Ancient Attractions it
ranked first. All year round, spectacular scenery,
especially in the summer, the river surges, sprays flying;
it looks like mist or fog, it’s very picturesque.

There was a period, the ecological environment
of upper stream of Daotian River was damaged,
and Daotian Reservoir became the main drinking
water for local residents, therefore, the flow
of Daotian River descended, the duration of the
scenery“the sound of Xiangshui is like thunder”
was shorted, and the momentum weakened and the
impact and attraction in people's minds have
also been toned down. Over the recent two years,
with the improvement of the ecological
environment, combined with the implementation of
quality improvement and dilatation project of
Daotian River Reservoir, Xiangshui Waterfalls
is "radiant beauty "again, have attracted a group
and a group of tourists. |
