3. Mr. Mao Hui-xin ,the worker in Liupan Forest , was the guider in climbing Liupan Mountain. He told us a story about the origin of the name of this mountain. Long long ago, there was an ancient temple at the foot of Liupan Mountain, in which an old monk recited the Buddhist scripture every day. One day, he saw a small deer drinking water at the side of river and tried to catch it. The deer ran away, while the old monk followed it closely. After a period, they climbed on the top of Liupan Mountain. Since then, people called the mountain “Lu Pan Shan”(Lu means deer, Pan means clime on, and Shan means mountain.) In Chinese, "Lu" and "Liu" are similar in pronunciation, so "Lupanshan" generally changed into "Liupan Mountain".

This is Liupan Observatory not far away from the Red Army's Long March Museum.
That is Liupan television relay station.

The observatory and television relay station are located on the top of Liupan Mountain. In order to ensure the function, more than 100 staffs work there. After interviewing at the Red Army's Long March Museum, it began to snow, which blocked our way to those two places. Standing on the top of the mountain, we recalled the kind hearted and warm staff. They were the real "Liupan Guards".
