Shadao Island

　　In northeast of Qinghai Lake, there is the largest island- Shadao Island, which is 13km long, 2.8km wide and 18 sq km in all. The highest altitude on the island is 3252m. In 1980, the northeastern part of Shadao Island connected with land, which was a peninsula. Later, it became an independent 33 sq km island. The surface of the island is full of sands and gravels with no vegetation, so it is the perfect inhabitation of birds.
