  Tang Princess of Wencheng

  In Qinghai Lake area, there’re many stories about Tang Princess of Wencheng. At 638AD, Songtsen Gampo, the king of Tubo, proposed intermarriage with Tang Dynasty. At that time, the emperor promised Wencheng Princess to be his wife. At 640AD, Ludongzan, a head in Tubo, was authorized to meet the princess in Chang’an. In Jan, 641AD, the princess and followers, with company of Ludongzan and Li Dao-zong, who was a minister in Tang Dynasty, started the journey for Lhasa . On the way, many vivid legends were left. The most famous one is that the princess missed her hometown very much; as a result her tears fell down and flew into Daotang River. Another is that in order to enforce determination of entering Tibet, the princess threw away the divine Riyue Mirrow. From then on, that place(Chiling) was renamed Riyue Mount. The intermarriage of the princess and Songtsen Gampo had a great influence in the history.

Wang Luo-bin

One of Wang Luo-bin’s most famous songs is “In That Distant Place”, which was created in Qinghai Lake area in 1930s. At that time, Mr Wang got inspiration by beautiful grassland and enthusiastic Tibetan girls in Jinyintan, Haiyan County. Even nowadays, this love song is still very popular.
