The autonomous county of the Tu nationality Huzhu, located in the northeast of Chinese Qinghai province, in which there nurtured vital and majestic landscape such as ranges of lofty mountains are erect into the sky, winding rivers are spouting waters, and shapes of lakes are spreading all over. Besides, the distinctive geographical location helped to build a unique natural landscape here. In this none but the only autonomous Tu county, the Tu People have been born and bread here for generations since the ancient time, shaping a unique cultural landscape, and creating brilliant culture of distinctive local features and ethnic characteristics. Embroidery art is one of the wonderful flowers in the garden of this ethnic culture. The coiled embroidery arts has been growing with the Tu nationality, handed down from one generation to another, and becoming better and perfect, to some extent, it can be said to grow as the development of ethnic costume, and to grow into a new stage because of the unique local marriage customs. In thousands of years, generations of the Tu embroidery artisans inherited, developed and promoted this marvelous flower of embroidery. In addition, the coiled embroidery of the Tu nationality has acquired multiple values such as folklore and aesthetics in its over thousand years’ development.

  •  Summary of Our Project:

Today, as the rapid development of industrial modernization and urbanization in rural areas, many folk cultural arts are facing being lost and distorted, the Tu coiled embroidery is also not an exception. In the process of making this special feature, we would like to, in the view of Li Faxiu's persistent pursuit on embroidery arts, contribute what we can for the preservation and development of the Tu embroidery.

  •  Our Computer and Internet Access:

There was only one computer room in our school, and all the computers were too old to run normally. In order to surf the internet to look for materials for the website, we had to spare the noon to finish them because of many classes and the schedule in the school.

  • Problems We Hard To Overcome:

A: Our classes schedule was very tight. As disciplined students, we could not escape any classes that we had to spare our noon to do this instead of at the other time.

B: Communication barrier. Searching for material was quite difficult because of the out-of-date computers, of which the too slow running was always challenging our patience. To improve this, our master teacher Mr. Dai cut off all the teachers' internet except the computer room's, leaving the last straw for us.

C: Due to our nonprofessional manipulating computers, we did encounter many difficulties during the website construction, and finally our website could be successfully built up all thanks to teacher Mr. Dai's patient guidance.

D: Conquered difficulties. Our classes schedule was very tight, so did the teachers' work. To finish our website on time, at weekends, we even came to school to make it that was several miles far away. And teachers Mr. Ma and Mr. Dai also put aside their house works and came to school to assist us. And our essays and diaries were all typed into the computer at weekends by ourselves. For these two days we were very anxious because of the approach of the deadline, the teachers were so busy in the school that could spare time to help us, but they still helped to contact with the teachers in Tianjin, asking for some more days for us. Moreover, teacher Mr. Ma encouraged us to have the belief of a strongest team that we could successfully finish the website. Thanks again for his further reasonable advices for our website, we did calm down and concentrate on every detail of the following things.

E: We were so sorry for our poor English for participating in the contest that we turned to the teachers in the Town and Talent, we sincerely appreciate that.

•  Our Project Sound Bite:

We felt great honored and proud of participating in this contest, for we have experienced so much in getting know of the embroidery arts, looking for the artisans, building the website and receiving help, hope and support from people most are unknown. It was their active participation that made the embroidery arts known and loved widely.
