The art of stone-cut

The whole cliff
Chiseling cave to worship the Buddha
Building stone house
The chiseled figure of Buddha

Linjiang temple was all chiseled out, including its halls, floors, galleries, paths and the Buddha figures, plaques and inscriptions. It was actually a huge cliff in the past. From the Ming Dynasty, people started to chisel caves to worship the Buddha. The poem "mooring in Cangxi county" composed by Wu Zhi, a scholar in past has described such scene. In Qing Dynasty, three county prefects have successively dug stones here for fortifications, and meanwhile built temples here based on the landforms. The temple was in perfect and balanced structure, the brims of which were upward like looking up hardly, beating the nature. Seeing that, we were deeply touched by what have done by the three county prefects.
