Interviewee: Mrs. Chen
It’s a telephone interview

Q: good morning, we are very happy that you accept our interview.
A: well, that’s my duty.

Q: What’s your first impression of Sayling?
A: he seemed quite ordinary in the first sight, however, in the conversion, I found that he was quite charming.

Q: what do you know about Sayling?
A: Mr. Sayling Wen was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. He was born in 1948 and later graduated from Taiwan University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1970. Over the course of his career, he served as general manager of Jin Bao Electronics in1973, as well as general manager, president and finally vice-chairman of Inventec Group in 1980.
During his time as vice-chairman of Inventec Group, Mr. Wen was noted as a far-sighted visionary and placed in charge of strategic development. He used his keen business instincts to readily adapt to the lightening innovations in high-technology.

Q: what do you know about Sayling’s Western Development in Ten Years?
A: The destination of western development is that, there would be no difference in community development and standard of living between eastern and western regions. Life in small towns does not lack in comparison to life in active metropolises. Although we need to work hard to fulfill this great goal, I believe that our dream can come true.
With the development of society, our living standard is much better than before. In the past, most of us went to work by bus or subway, when people dreamed of having a family car. Nowadays, the number of family cars increases amazingly everyday and it has been a goal of national tenth “Five-year Plan” to enable families affording a car. Before the reform and opening up, rare family has its own phone set; however, the number of mobile phone in China ranks the second in the world. In Taiwan, the number of mobile phones has exceeded the population, where even pupils have their cell phones. Although our living standard can’t be compared with developed countries, we are forging ahead to develop a moderately prosperous society. However, in some regions of western China, it is not easy for people to have enough to eat and wear.
In Aug of 2000, he declared the “Western Development in 10 Years”. In Dec of 2000, Sayling held alumni in Shanghai, where he heard of Yellow Sheep River from Kenny Lin. Since then on, YSR has been the model of Sayling’s promise of “Western Development in 10 Years”.

Q: what changes did Sayling bring to you?
A: the biggest change was his new conception. He taught us to change our mind. Now we have fromed an internet village. The gap between western and easten is shortened.
