Sichuan opera was divided into various schools in its long period of evolution, as different tunes were prevalent in different regions.The division was based on the names of the regions such as the Western Sichuan School, Ziyang River School,Northern Sichuan School,and Eastern Sichuan School.

Western Sichuan School, prevalent in the counties around West Sichuan plain area cored by Chengdu, Gaoqiang and Dengxi are very popular,which forms unique tune called "Ba Diao"

Ziyang River School, prevalent in counties of Zigong and Neijiang, Gaoqiang is popular,which art style is more rigorous.

Northern Sichuan School,prevalent in some regions of Nanchong,Mianyang and Guangyuan, Tanxi is very popular, which being influenced by Qingqiang

Eastern Sichuan School, prevalent in east Sichuan cored by Chongqing, Huqing is very popular.
